Frequently Asked Questions
Find answers to the most common questions about our home battery backup systems, installation process, energy savings, and long-term benefits.
01
Is it really free?
Yes. For eligible homeowners, there is no cost for the batteries or installation. We utilize applicable federal and state incentives over time to recover the installation costs.
02
What's the catch? Does the utility company pay for this?
There is no catch under the qualifying program terms. We use applicable federal incentives that may not be directly available to homeowners, along with state incentives, to cover installation costs. You receive eligible utility benefits, potential electricity savings, and dependable backup power.
03
Do I need to obtain permits or contact my utility company?
No. Our team handles the entire process, including utility approval, permits, installation, and system setup, making the experience convenient and straightforward.
04
How long will the battery power my house?
Our high-capacity battery system is designed to power many homes for approximately 3–5 days or longer, depending on air conditioning usage, other high-consumption appliances, and overall electricity demand.
05
Where will the batteries be installed?
Batteries are typically installed outside your home near the utility meter. We schedule a site visit to determine the most suitable and compliant installation location.
06
Do I need solar panels?
No. Our battery backup system operates independently without solar panels. If you already have solar, we may be able to integrate it with the battery system for additional benefits.
07
Will my electricity bill actually go down?
Your battery may allow you to qualify for utility programs that offer lower off-peak electricity rates. Storing energy during lower-cost periods and participating in eligible virtual power plant programs may further reduce your electricity expenses.
08
How long does installation take?
The physical installation typically takes 1–2 days. Before installation, we obtain the necessary local permits and utility approvals, which generally take approximately 30–45 days.
09
What happens if I sell my home?
Under the program's transfer terms, the battery system and its warranty transfer to the new homeowner. Having a high-capacity battery backup system can also be an attractive feature for potential buyers.
10
How do I know if my batteries are working?
You will have access to a convenient mobile app that allows you to monitor your battery system, check its performance, view battery status, and access system functions in real time.
